Who we are

This website, WordExplored, is run by [Replace with your name or organisation]. You can contact us at [Replace with your email address].

What information we collect

We collect as little as possible. We do not run advertising or build visitor profiles. The information below is collected only when you use the matching feature.

Comments

When you leave a comment on a blog post we collect the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Comments are held for moderation. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you are using it. Comments and their details are kept until you ask us to remove them.

YouTube videos

Our Bible story videos are hosted by YouTube. We embed them using the privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and only load the player after you press play. Until then no data is sent to YouTube. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may collect information such as your IP address and set cookies, under Google’s privacy policy.

Language translation (Google Translate and GTranslate)

The language button at the top of each page uses the GTranslate plugin and Google Translate. If you choose another language, the page text is sent to Google to be translated, and Google may set a cookie to remember your language choice. If you do not use the button, nothing is sent.

Bible reader and verse links (BibleBridge)

The Bible reader and the automatic verse-reference links are provided by the BibleBridge plugin. Searches and verse look-ups may be sent to BibleBridge’s service (holybible.dev), which also receives your IP address and browser details when verifying that visitors are real people. BibleBridge stores one cookie to remember your chosen Bible translation. See the BibleBridge privacy policy.

Cookies

This website uses a small number of cookies: those WordPress needs for logged-in users and for remembering your name on the comment form, one from BibleBridge for your translation choice, and the cookies from YouTube and Google Translate described above, but only if you use those features.

Our hosting provider

This website is hosted by [Replace with your hosting provider]. Server logs, including IP addresses, may be kept for security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. Email us at [Replace with your email address] and we will respond.
